ABOUT DEPARTMENT
The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) is an autonomous public sector body under the administrative control of the Secretary for Aviation, Government of Pakistan, which oversees and regulates all aspects of civil aviation in Pakistan. The head office of PCAA is located in Terminal 1 of Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. PCAA is a member state of the International Civil Aviation Organization. Almost all the 44 civilian airports in Pakistan are owned and operated by PCAA. Air Marshal (retd) Asim Sulaiman was appointed to head PCAA as Director General on 27 November 2015.
PCAA not only plays the role of aviation regulator but also acts as a service provider of air navigation services and airport services. The primary functions of the PCAA are, therefore, 'regulatory', 'air navigation services' and 'airport services'. These core functions are fully supported by the various corporate functions of the organization.
