ABOUT DEPARTMENT
The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) is a federally funded independent government agency concerned with research and development of atomic energy, promotion of nuclear science, energy conservation and peaceful uses of nuclear technology.
Until 2001, PAEC was the civilian federal oversight agency that oversaw the control of nuclear radiation, nuclear weapons development, and their testing. These functions were eventually taken over by the Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NRA) and the National Command Authority under the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
